The Australian Government is considering raising the age limit of the Working Holiday visa!
Margy Osmond, Australia’s Chief Executive of the Tourism and Transport Forum, said that Australia could see more benefits from the Working Holiday program if it raised the age limit from 35 to 50. She had this to say:
“It opens up to a marketplace of people who have different skills and perhaps more professional skills that we could use…we need to be a bit more creative in terms of how we fill jobs,”
With many nations considering implementing similar changes to their own Working Holiday programs, it’s easy to see why working holiday visas are so high in demand. You too might be interested in pursuing this life-changing experience abroad. Whether you’re looking to take some time off from your job to explore a new country or use the opportunity to make money and gain valuable work experience in another part of the world, a working holiday visa might be the opportunity you need.
What Is A Working Holiday?
A working holiday visa allows people aged 18-30 (or 35 depending on the country) to stay in another country for up to one year, legally. While there, they can take up employment in various industries and also participate in activities such as
volunteer work, educational courses and cultural exchange programs. The key benefit of this kind of visa is that it gives you more flexibility than a regular long-term visa because it doesn’t tie you down to any specific type of job or duration of stay. This means you can work wherever and whenever you choose during your stay, allowing you to really make the most out of your overseas experience.
The Benefits
Not only does a working holiday visa provide greater freedom, but it also gives travelers an opportunity to make money while exploring new countries and cultures. Many employers abroad are looking for people with foreign language skills and global experiences who can bring fresh perspectives into their workforce – so if you have both these things under your belt already, getting a job abroad is made much easier through a working holiday visa. Moreover, those interested in pursuing career paths abroad will find that the experience gained on their travels will help set them apart from other applicants when applying for jobs once their visas expire.
Of course, taking advantage of all that a working holiday has to offer requires some planning – securing accommodation and applying for visas may take longer than anticipated due to increasing popularity in this form of travel. However if done correctly, this effort will certainly pay off as travellers reap the rewards that come with being able to travel freely while still having access to paid employment abroad.
All in all, obtaining a working holiday visa is worth every bit of effort – providing flexibility in travel plans and additional financial support while exploring other countries and cultures. A true testament to why having such an incredible opportunity available makes it something that no traveler should pass up!
