It’s pretty tough to measure what the happiest country in the world is but that’s exactly what the ‘World’s Happiness Report’ aims to do each year. And each year it’s almost always the Scandinavian countries that come on top of the list whilst war torn countries fall behind. This is the sixth year they have been running this report and their central purpose remains; ‘To survey the science of measuring and understanding subjective well being’. They seek to evaluate lives all over the world and then rank the happiest countries according to this analysis. The report ranks countries on six key variables that support well-being: income, freedom, trust, healthy life expectancy, social support and generosity. A happy country means happy people and a happier lifestyle, who wouldn’t want to visit a place like this!

Switzerland” font_container=”tag:h2|text_align:left|color:%23000000|line_height:20px” use_theme_fonts=”yes”][vc_column_text]They were number one back in 2015 but seemed to have dropped 5 positions down since, however it’s still a pretty cheerful place to call home. There’s no wonder they’re still in the top five with their booming economy, favourable tax regime, amazing infrastructure and educational services. They have some of the most enchanting landscapes and most citizens are bilingual, understanding and speaking English, French and German. The average life expectancy peaks into the mid eighties, could probably be all that happiness keeping them going!

Iceland” font_container=”tag:h2|text_align:left|color:%23000000″ use_theme_fonts=”yes”][vc_column_text]Iceland without doubt is a stunning country with the most amazing scenic views, they have seen visitor numbers quadruple in recent years. The happiness of their citizens could be due to the fact that Iceland offer free health care, free higher education and a relatively low income tax. If that didn’t sound as amazing enough Iceland is seen as one of the most equal, peaceful and fairest countries in the world.

Denmark” font_container=”tag:h2|text_align:left|color:%23000000″ use_theme_fonts=”yes”][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]Denmark’s rankings have been slipping each year but still don’t going strong in the top three, i don’t think that happiness will be escaping any time soon. It has been reported before that danish people are genetically much happier then other people around the world. Denmark’s happiness could be due to the fact it has good life expectancy, free tax financed health care and one of the smallest wealth gaps in the world due to it’s envious welfare system.

The crime rate in Norway is incredibly low and the lifestyle is relaxed and calm. It also ranks pretty high for gender equality and social capital. They were last year’s winner but i wont be surprised if they creep back into that number one spot next year!.
[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_single_image image=”17236″ img_size=”large” alignment=”center”][vc_empty_space][vc_custom_heading text=”1. Finland” font_container=”tag:h2|text_align:left|color:%23000000″ use_theme_fonts=”yes”][vc_column_text]And the winner is….FINLAND! Did you guess that right? Europe’s eighth largest country climbed four spots from fifth last year. It’s home to only 5.5 million residents who enjoy more forest per square mile than any European country. So you can only imagine that this country is packed with endless stunning scenic views. They have plenty of green credentials and extremely high environmental standards to keep their country as clean and pretty as possible. Finland also has a very low threat level (in terms of medical risks, security and road safety) making it another European country known for it’s peace. Finland is home to 300,000 foreign nationals and there is a remarkable consistency of happiness between them and the local born residents. Does this make you want to visit Finland?
